Tooth Whitening
Whitening (or bleaching) a tooth is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment that changes the color of natural tooth enamel. As a result, it serves as an ideal way to enhance the beauty of your smile.
Since whiter teeth have become the top aesthetic concern for many patients, several whitening options are now available. Among these, the most popular method involves using a home tooth whitening system that dramatically whitens teeth. Because tooth whitening only affects natural enamel, we first evaluate any old fillings, crowns, or restorations. Then, after completing the bleaching process, we replace those restorations to match the newly whitened teeth.
However, whitening is not a permanent solution. Therefore, you may need a touch-up every few years—especially if you smoke or frequently drink coffee, tea, or wine.

Reasons to whiten a tooth:

This type of teeth whitening usually requires two visits. During the first appointment, we take impressions (molds) of your teeth to create custom, clear plastic trays.
At your second appointment, you will try on the trays to ensure a proper fit, and we will make adjustments if needed. Then, you will wear the trays with a special whitening solution either twice a day for 30 minutes or overnight for a couple of weeks, depending on the degree of staining and your desired level of whitening. It’s common to experience some tooth sensitivity during treatment; however, this typically subsides shortly after you stop bleaching.
After your whitening treatment, we will provide care instructions for your teeth and trays. Additionally, we encourage you to visit your dentist regularly to maintain a beautiful, healthy, white smile.
